Someone posted this on myspace and I thought it was kind of funny so here it is. 20 Ways Not to Get Invited Back to a Circle 1. Take the ritual sword from the alter and make sounds like Darth Vader..."Luke, I am your father!"...and start making light saber noises. 2. Start skat-singing when chanting. 3. Take the ritual athame from the alter and start cleaning your nails with it. 4. When taking a sip of the ritual wine, act like a wine snob and comment on it. 5. When doing the spiral dance, make a conga line. 6. Call down the Goddess with "Get your ass down here, Big Momma!". 7. Call down the God with "Our father,who art in heaven..." 8. Where I've been
I've spent so much time at the hospital recently that I'm thinking about filing a change of address form. For those of you who don't know, my brother Jason recently had to have major major open heart surgery. The problem really started months ago. Jason had a tooth that was bothering him, but since he didn't have insurance, and couldn't afford to go to the dentist, he let it go and let it go and it got infected. And he let the infection go and go until it got into his bloodstream and ultimatly ended up in his heart, completly destroying two of his heart valves. Of course, he didn't know the extant of the damage. He had been really sick for the last two months and had extreme joint pain, and had gone to the emergency room three times, without any luck. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. To be honest the first hospital didn't bother to try and figure it out because he didn't have insurance. They told him he probably had rheumatoid arthritis, referred him to a specialist and released him. The specialist, told him that since he didn't have insurance, she wouldn't even bother testing him and wouldn't see him, charge him $360 and sent him on his way. So after that he went to OHSU and they treated him for severe dehydration, after 3 bags of iv fluids he was feeling a slight improvement so they figured that he would continue to improve now that he wasn't so dehydrated. They gave his some pills for the nausea and sent him home. He tried to return to work, and last tuesday, after a couple weeks of suffering through, hoping he would get better, he decided it was time to go back in. Thats when they discovered the infection, admitted him to the hospital and started planning the surgery. So he had surgery on friday, they sent him home wednesday. (Well not home home, he's got to be on IV antibiotics for 4 weeks and can't drive for 4 weeks so they sent him home with me. He's been staying here. ) Thursday we had to go up for a blood test to see if his blood thinner level was right, adjust it and all that. His levels were low because he missed his dose the night before because the discharge nurse forgot to tell him he needed to take it that night, and he couldn't remember if he had taken it with all the other pills they were giving him. Anyhow, his levels were low so they doubled his dose for thursday and friday. Last night he woke up having a few problems breathing. His chest felt tight, like someone had their knee on his chest. He took his pain meds, and went back to sleep. This morning he was feeling worse so I called his surgeon and he wanted us to bring him to the emergency room to get him checked out. An EKG, several blood draws, an CT Scan of his lungs, and another echocardiagram later, and they have ruled out blood clots, though his blood thinner level was way way lower then what it should be and blood clots were their primary worry. No blood clots is a very very good thing. However, according to the echocardiagram it looks like one part of his heart isn't quite pumping right. It might still be stunned from the surgery. They are keeping him up there tonight with an iv drip of blood thinner and tomorrow they are going to do another echocardiagram to see whats really going on. Not sure what they will do from there. Anyhow, just wanted to update and let everyone know, in case you've wondered where I've been, or where I'll probably be for atleast a couple more days. As I'm the only family member he has in town, I've been in charge of taking care of him and keeping the other family members up to speed. So I've been spending a lot of very long hours at the hospital with him by myself. I'm so freaking stressed out right now. I'm not cut out for this shit. Anyhow, moral of the story, never let a tooth go just because you don't have insurrance. Seriously, they said if he had waited another week to go in this last time, he'd be dead. We moved
So things have been pretty crazy around here. We just got done moving. We're still in the process of unpacking though. I'm hoping to be able to actually get my pictures hung in the bedroom tomorrow and get my altar unpacked and set up. I think that will help me feel a little less scattered. I'm hoping to have all the unpacking done and everything in it's proper place by sunday. Our new place is smaller, but nicer I think. The bedrooms are bigger, but the living room is half the size if not smaller. Which, wouldn't be a problem aside from the fact that we have so much stuff. I think we've finally got that squared away though. It's functional and you can walk through without tripping on boxes now. The complex itself is much nicer, 2 pools, a hottub, a clubhouse with a pool table and fitness room, actual landscaping with fountains and what not, covered parking etc. Plus the apartments are much quieter. I can't hear traffic rushing by anymore, dispite the fact that we still live off a busy street. Plus theres the added bonus of no longer living next to white trash lady. This is the woman would constantly hang her clothes out in front of the apartment and sunbath topless right by our front door. Plus the parking situation is way better for guests and what not. The biggest thing for me though, is the way the energy feels here. I feel so much more comfortable and relaxed here than at the old place. I'm actually able to sleep here without waking up a dozen times. I haven't had a nightmare since we moved. I was having them almost everynight at the old place. I also have had the motivation to start studying again. I've started with Tarot, because I really need the review on that. I haven't been working with it regularly for a very long time. Theres so many other things I want to study though. I definatly need to get back to the point where study and practice are a regular part of my daily life. I feel like I have been so disconnected for the longest time. Anyhow, speaking of that, I think I'm going to do some more reading before I get too sleepy. | | 5:30 pm |

Wow I forgot that I hadn't updated for a while. Anyhow, I got a new job. I start on Tuesday. I'll be working as a massage therapist for Ensemble day spa. I'm excited. I found out Thursday that I got the job, basicly after I had already given up on the idea of working there. My interview was the friday before and my practical was saturday. So I thought they decided not to go with me. So I was pretty shocked when they called thursday morning. I put in my two week notice at Longs. I'm really excited. I can't wait til I am through with Longs though. Today sucked. I was there all day and it was really fucking slow, so I finished everything on my list and then some and still had to spend the last hour pretending to be busy. It's freaking mind numbing! The only source of entertainment was watching Crazy Marie walk around the store singing gospel music to herself. She's a freak. I have actually watched this woman have an argument with herself in front of a customer. Someone needs to take their medication before coming to work. I will be so happy when I'm done with all this bullshit. Tomorrow night is going to suck ass! I have to work in Cosmetics with Jessica tomorrow. She's pretty pissed at me for leaving. She has said a total of 4 words to me since I put in my notice. She's mostly just pissed because that means she'll have to work weekends, atleast until they hire some other unsuspecting soul to be her slave labor. Anyhow, the new job should be awesome. I'll be making 50% comission plus tips or an hourly rate, whichever is more. Which means even if I don't have a massage for that day, as long as I'm there, I get paid. It's supposed to be a little bit more than minimum wage. Which is cool because even when I'm not massaging I'll be making more money than I was at longs. The drive is a little further than I would like, and the dress code is still a bit on the strict side, but I can deal with that. Although, the girl I did my massage on did have a monroe, so who knows, I might be able to talk them into letting me get my nose or eyebrow pierced again. Between the two jobs, I'm not going to have many days off for the next couple weeks. But as soon as my time at Longs is up I'll only be working 3 days a week to start. Which isn't bad. I'll even get sundays off which is sweet. And I'll always be home in time to tuck Bonnie in. I'm excited. Anyhow, I'm going to go find something to do. Maybe if I read for a while I'll get sleepy. Being a night owl doesn't work so well when I have to get up and take the kid to school in the morning. Also, I have to go pay someone to rip hair out of my face. The dead squirrels that pass as my eyebrows don't really go with the professional and neat appearence my new job requires. I'll try and update again soon. Current Mood:  bouncy |
